Trigg Beach - Perth day two

Today we went to Trigg beach  :)

the waves are really big and scary here..

as it's halloween I made the most amazing sand halloween thing ever..
I'm so artistic

I went for a bit of a swim but cut my legs up loads!

We jumped down the sand dunes and found a new sport that Tanbay is better at than me

it's really hard

eeeee

German engineered

sand is so annoying

Trigg beach is on the Sunset coast, it's great.

We watched an American horror story to make it a bit more halloweeney, it was still the best halloween we've ever had. (Apart from the one at Ally's house when Tanbay was ill.. )

Perth - day one

Today we woke up at Pieter and Pauline's lovely house in Perth. They have a really great kitchen which has MARMITE IN IT! I've missed marmite soo much, Vegemite is the worst thing ever, I hate it more than I hate wombats.

But we got to meet Pauline properly whose really nice and then we met their daughter Pippa. She was really friendly which was great because we were kind of jet lagged from our flight. Not real jet lagged, just not used to the two hour time difference.

Pauline generously showed us the way to Perth, we caught a bus to the train station and a train into Perth, it only took about 30mins which is the closest we've lived to a city in Australia.

The bus/train systems are all completely different in the different states of Australia.

Pauline showed us the main streets of Perth and the visitors centre, it was very very hot.

Swan Bells

Then Pauline went home and Tanbay and I explored Perth a bit more. It was hot but a completely different hot to Brisbane. Brisbane was a lot more humid.

We sweated in the park for a bit

this is Perth

Then we went to see the Swan Bells

Perth has a great network of buses which are all free. We were so hot we got one of the buses and saw the city that way, here is the river:

here is some art

We got the train and bus back, then walked the 15 minute walk to the beach:

It was so hot it was great to be able to get in the water. The waves were so rough here though that they were actually lifting up the sand. The NSW waves were rough, but the sea was clearer there so it was less creepy.

It was so sunny!

All in all, it was a fantastic first day in Perth

Flight from Brisbane to Perth

Today we spent the whole morning packing, I think I'm finally getting good at it.

Kerry bought us some really super cakes and we had afternoon tea.

Then she and Brian took us to Brisbane airport, they are such great people with the cutest dogs, Tanbay and I were sad to be leaving them!

We arrived early at the airport, we keep forgetting internal flights are different and you don't need to be there hours early, it takes like 10 minutes to get to the plane.

But we had fun playing charades whilst we waited

Tanbay hates my charades

Then we heard a whole load of screaming which we figured was for a celebrity, but we didn't see anyone.

The flight was delayed by 30 minutes so we were preparing for another 'virgin Australia' special. But unlike the flight from Adelaide to Brisbane, this flight was one of the best ones ever!!

We got really excited because we got a free meal and TV which we weren't expecting, it's a long flight (five and a half hour) so that was great.

We arrived in Perth and were picked up by Pieter. Pieter is my Grandma's friend's son who lives in Perth. We were a bit stuck because we had a week free between house sits, but Grandma and her friend (Tiny) put us in contact with Pieter and he and his wife Pauline very very kindly let us stay!

Fishing in New South Wales

Today Brian very very kindly took us to the Gold Coast to meet the lady (Katie) who we’re house sitting for at Christmas. She was really nice and I think we’ll get on well. We met her cat who was super cute and saw her really nice house and swimming pool. We’re really excited to go back there for Christmas!

Then Brian took us to New South Wales so we could go fishing for the first time! First we went to this beautiful beach:

We swam a little bit, the sea was really rough and I kept getting pulled under but it was loads of fun.

Then we had this delicious picnic/bbq:

We found a suitable river to fish on and then we started fishing. It’s a sport neither of us are good at, we didn’t catch anything. But it was great fun learning how to do it, we both had loads of bites but they were just swimming off with our bait. At least the fish were fed!

super clear

I thought I saw another seal, but Brian said it was more likely a dolphin! Which is even better really.

We went to another beach and did some more swimming, it was even rougher and I kept swallowing salt water which wasn’t great. But the beach was gorgeous, the weather was scorching and it was the best.

This is the border of NSW and Queensland

On the way home we visited the nicest pie shop in the world and ate chips and bought a pie for dinner. I LOVE the pies here.

It was another amazing day thanks to the lovely people we house sat for.
