Perth - day one

Today we woke up at Pieter and Pauline's lovely house in Perth. They have a really great kitchen which has MARMITE IN IT! I've missed marmite soo much, Vegemite is the worst thing ever, I hate it more than I hate wombats.

But we got to meet Pauline properly whose really nice and then we met their daughter Pippa. She was really friendly which was great because we were kind of jet lagged from our flight. Not real jet lagged, just not used to the two hour time difference.

Pauline generously showed us the way to Perth, we caught a bus to the train station and a train into Perth, it only took about 30mins which is the closest we've lived to a city in Australia.

The bus/train systems are all completely different in the different states of Australia.

Pauline showed us the main streets of Perth and the visitors centre, it was very very hot.

Swan Bells

Then Pauline went home and Tanbay and I explored Perth a bit more. It was hot but a completely different hot to Brisbane. Brisbane was a lot more humid.

We sweated in the park for a bit

this is Perth

Then we went to see the Swan Bells

Perth has a great network of buses which are all free. We were so hot we got one of the buses and saw the city that way, here is the river:

here is some art

We got the train and bus back, then walked the 15 minute walk to the beach:

It was so hot it was great to be able to get in the water. The waves were so rough here though that they were actually lifting up the sand. The NSW waves were rough, but the sea was clearer there so it was less creepy.

It was so sunny!

All in all, it was a fantastic first day in Perth
