Train ride from Casino to Broadmeadow

Today we got up at 6.30am and Kev kindly took us from Alstonville to Casino, so we could catch the train to Broadmeadow! The route from Alstonville to Casino was very pretty, but looked exactly like England! Kev was saying 'I love how different it is here to England' (he's from Liverpool) and we were thinking 'this looks the same'. Still very pretty though.

So this was the beginning of our journey:

As you can see Casino is basically England.

However, almost as soon as the train left the station we saw a mob of kangaroos! By the time I'd got the camera out the train had sped past them, but here are the woods that they were in:

The scenery gradually became less and less English, they had lots of really beautiful mountains whose beauty hasn't translated well into this photo:

Then just as we were pulling up to Coff's Harbour we saw Banana plants!!

Bananas used to be really cheap in Australia because they grew them here, but in 2006 there was a cyclone (called Larry) which destroyed the majority of the banana crops so prices increased 400%!

Anyway this is Coff's Harbour:

We were considering stopping off in Coffs for a few days

This is a river:

This is a church:

Next we were very very very excited to be travelling through Gloucester!

As you can see it looks a lot better than normal Gloucester

Considering the journey took 10 hours it didn't feel like it took that long! I read 'Two in the Bush' by Gerald Durrell which was really really good. It's about a guy who travelled around Australia doing animal research for the BBC, his stories were really interesting and fun because we'd seen most of the animals or been to the places.

I also started reading 'The Richest Man in Babylon' which I will recommend to absolutely everyone. I didn't finish it because it was blowing my mind too much. I'm going to finish it soon and write down all the great advice, then I'm going to bug you to read it.

Right at the end of the journey an incredibly drunk elderly man managed to engage me in conversation. He said that he'd met the Queen and that I should go to Sydney.

Our new friend Dave picked us up from the airport and we had a great evening.
