Journey from Queensland to New South Wales

Today we (I) got up very early to make sure our Gold Coast house was ready to be left. As these two house sits overlap each other this was the first time we'd left before the house owner (Katie) came back.

Our new house owner (Kev) picked us up. He and his wife are from Liverpool and he had a really sweet story as to why they decided to live here: She (Nikki) really wanted to come here on honeymoon so they did. They kept coming back on holiday until one day he said it would be cheaper to just live here. She said that's what she'd always wanted but didn't want to ask, she wanted him to want to live there too. So now they have two kids and a dog and live in Alstonville.

Kev drove us from the Gold Coast to Alstonville, it was incredibly how much the scenery changed! The drive only took an hour and a half, but it brought us from Queensland into New South Wales which seems like an entirely different country.

The Gold Coast has been very hot but dry, there's lots of dry red dirt and lizards. New South Wales on the other hand is very green. It seems to be like a cross between England and New Zealand (or at least the New Zealand you see in the Lord of the Rings).

It started raining almost as soon as we entered New South Wales but it was so beautiful! Really fresh and just so green!

I didn't take any pictures (it's hard to do that in the car) but I found a few pictures online which sum up how it looks:

minus the aborigine

We passed Byron Bay which is a renowned beach, it looked pretty good.

It was a gorgeous journey and we still can't get over how different New South Wales is to Queensland. We travelled for less than two hours but feel like we're in a different country!
